THREE major projects currently being undertaken by the CNMI government will get initial funding following the signing of an appropriation measure by Gov. Juan N. Babauta.
House Bill 13-92, which is now Public Law 13-10, re-appropriates fund balances from the Chinatown and Chalan Laulau water reservoir project.
The new law would allot $1 million for the replacement of asbestos water line distribution in Gualo Rai; for the A&E design, construction and purchase of collateral equipment for a public market in Garapan; and for the construction of an overpass near the Commonwealth Health Center on Middle Road.
Due to land issues and questions involving the Chinatown and Chalan Laulau water reservoir, the project has been staled.
Only last week, Babauta signed H.B. 13-17 which would appropriate $1.72 million for the replacement of asbestos water pipes in Chinatown.
