Northern Marianas College President Carmen T. Fernandez said NMC has experts trained in the film industry.
“There were talks of revitalizing the film/audiovisual school at the NMC but it is kind of difficult, especially with the limited resources that we have,” Fernandez said.
But NMC’s doors are not closed to the training.
“We will check what funding is available in grants and see if we can provide for these programs,” she said.
According to Fernandez, if there are needs for training in film and audiovisual industry, NMC’s experts can provide it.
“We have the professionals to conduct the training when needed,” she said.
Fernandez said a golf academy at NMC is also something that can be looked into.
“We have the customer base as Saipan is famous for its golf courses in other countries, but it is something that we have to study first; we will do it if it’s feasible,” she said.
Fernandez said for now, the college is focusing on getting funds and a special academic accreditation for its business, education and nursing programs.
“These are our priorities for now,” she said.
