“We are very proud of Dr. Papadopoulos’ accomplishment,” said NMC Languages and Humanities Department Chairman James Kline. “This experience is not only a great opportunity for his professional development but also in the educational development of students in the AP program.”
College board readers, usually college and university professors, evaluate and score AP students’ free-responses — ensuring that students receive AP grades that accurately reflect college-level achievement in each discipline. The readings take place in the summer during June.
“I’m honored and enthusiastic about the opportunity to participate with the college board,” said Papadopoulos. “I know this experience will benefit the students at NMC, when I return I will be able to share with them information that will help improve and advance their command of the English language.”
Papadopoulos has been an instructor at NMC under the languages and humanities department for almost six years. He has taught various subjects including English composition, developmental writing, and philosophy. Papadopoulos was also the recipient of a certificate in English language teaching to adults by the University of Cambridge’s English for Speakers of Other Languages program 2009.
