Dr. Allan Sabaldica, animal scientist of Northern Marianas College-Cooperative Research Extension and Education Services, said they want to maximize natural resources and provide an alternative medicine that is inexpensive and environment-friendly.
“All participants participated in hands-on preparation of herbal medicine,” Sabaldica said.
During the workshop, Sabaldica presented different herbal plants that can be used for livestock healthcare.
Herbal medicine from the Philippines, the Marshall Islands and Pohnpei were discussed during the workshop.
“Participants were able to learn that some of the familiar plants they always see around them have significant health benefits,” Sabaldica said.
Similar workshops will be held in Palau, Nov. 9 to 11; Yap, Nov. 12-13; Saipan, Nov. 24; Tinian, Nov. 30; Chuuk, Dec. 12-13; and Guam, Dec. 14-15.
