“We will be sending out announcements as soon as we finalize the fundraising drives,” Hirsh said.
Those who want to donate can visit the American Red Cross Web site, www.redcross.org, or the local office across from the Saipan international airport.
Hirsh said they are only accepting cash donations for now as in-kind donations will require shipping.
“If the community has lots of clothing and other items they want to donate, maybe they can hold a yard or garage sale and donate the proceeds to the Haiti earthquake victims. That’s the best way,” he added.
So far, he said, no CNMI resident has asked the NMI chapter for assistance in locating any relatives in Haiti.
“If there are residents here who have family members or relatives in Haiti, they can contact us for assistance,” he added.
