THE SoMe Awards, the CNMI’s first social media awards event, will take place this Saturday at Saipan World Resort, and organizers PalmTrio670 said the public should be ready for “jungle vibes.”

“We’re feeling all the feels,” said Loyd Lely, as he describes the hectic whirlwind of activities he and fellow influencers Jefferson Mateo and Louvicki Camacho are undertaking behind the scenes. “But we’re very confident in our team!” Lely added.

The island’s inaugural social media awards event will be a gathering of content creators from all genres — fashion, fishing, food, and beyond. The biggest prize of the night is the Content Creator of the Year Award.

PalmTrio has encouraged attendees to go “all out” when it comes to the dress code, suggesting that they “think like Lana Del Rey at the 2018 Met Gala.” This year’s theme is “Tropical Abyss.”

In an interview on Thursday, Mateo said he expects all the hard work to pay off when showtime comes around.

“Honestly, the vibe is going to be like family or community. Everybody is there to have a great time,” he said. “We’re all getting so excited every single day. People are freaking out, saying, ‘what are we going to wear?’ and [then there are] the plans that we have and so we’re really just expecting a fun night.”

Mateo said the event will be a gathering of like-minded people whose goal is to expand the digital content coming out of the Marianas.

“Hopefully, after this event the social media content creating community here in the Marianas becomes much bigger,” he said.

The guest performers include IAMJred, JJ Aguon, Francis Peter, and Studio 2911 while the event emcees are Chinaman and Kim King-Hinds.

Camacho said tickets may be available at the door, but that will depend on whether or not vendors still have tickets to turn over.
