Nominating a gaming commissioner should not be a priority

He said he was disappointment by the announcement that Mayor Ramon M. Dela Cruz will appoint a commissioner.

“What we need is public assistance to ease the people’s  hardship,” the resident said.

The work-hour reduction imposed by the administration has severely affected the people and the businesses on Tinian, he said.

Having another commissioner is not the priority now, he added.

“What for?” he asked, adding that there’s no new casino investor.

Dela Cruz said he needed to appoint a third member so that the five-seat commission will have a quorum. The commission currently has two members.

The resident said the Tinian leadership should disclose how the casino revenues are being spent.

“Where’s the money going?” he asked, adding that municipal scholarship program that was supposed to be funded by the casino has stopped. The Tinian leadership, he added, should also reinstate the allowances of  medical referral patients and find a way to reduce power rates.
