Norita: DPS has 32, not 19, Army Reservists

“These 32 are from Rota, Tinian and Saipan,” Norita told the Variety in an interview.

He said that as of Thursday last week, he had already received 20 deployment orders for reservists, but he does not know who among the reservists are going.

A Kagman resident earlier said that there was no deploy orders yet and asked Norita “not to give false information.”

The letter further stated that only 19 officers and not 32 will be affected by the training for the Reservists that will be held this month.

“I don’t know where this individual who sent the letter got his information, but I got my numbers from my department,” Norita said.

He added that some of the Reservists who will be deployed to the Middle East are already on leave to spend time with their families.

“I think the order was set for July 14,” Norita said, adding that they are helping the Reservists  process their military and annual leaves.

He said the operations of  DPS are affected by the deployment, particularly the patrol, traffic and fire units.

But, he added, he has already come up with plans to fill the vacant positions.

Norita hopes that “things will go back to normal” after new officers graduate from the Police Academy sometime in August or September.

He said DPS is also hiring 20 new police officers, 15 firefighters and five civilian dispatchers.
