“Tourism is the only potential industry to generate more revenue for the Northern Marianas, and we urge the CNMI government to support tourism seriously through the Marianas Visitors Authority.  Otherwise, the name of Saipan, Tinian, Rota and the Northern Marianas will disappear from the wholesale market,” said HANMI Chairman Nick Nishikawa.  “We need effective promotions.”

So far this year, hotel occupancy is at an average 63 percent, well below the healthy industry indicator average of 80 percent and 1 percent lower than last year.

The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands was established in 1985 as a professional forum for the hospitality industry of the CNMI.
