“We owe the success of the project to the support of the community,” he added.
He said the project would not have been successful if not for the coconut trees donated by residents.
Over 500 coconut trees were donated for the tree planting activity.
Villagomez said Beautify CNMI is planning a flame tree planting as its next project.
The Laolao Revegetation Project aims to protect the Laolao Bay Watershed by helping reduce the amount of sediment accumulating on the adjacent coral reefs.
Beautify CNMI, the Division of Environmental Quality, the Coastal Resources Management Office, the Department of Land and Natural Resources, and the Coral Reef Initiative organized Sunday’s activity.
