Clinic director Dr. Kenneth D. Pierson said this year’s turnout was less compared to 2009, but it was still a “good and manageable number.”
“We did not have to turn anybody away because the number of patients was manageable,” Pierson said.
The SDA clinic provided a full scope of dental services to the patients, majority of whom were from 4 to 12 years old.
“We conducted extractions, teeth x-ray, fillings, cleaning and other dental services,” Pierson said.
They also gave instructions to parents and the children on how to take proper care of their teeth.
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month.
In June, the SDA Dental Clinic will conduct its “Clinic with a Heart” which offers free dental services.
“We do this every year for individuals who do not have dental insurance and those who cannot afford to pay for dental services in any other way,” Pierson said.
For the past 10 years, the SDA Dental Clinic has been visiting schools all over the island to promote and motivate the students to take care of their teeth.
