Over 6K of IPI liquor bottles to be sold at auction

CLEAR Management Limited, the court-designated receiver, intends to sell over 6,000 bottles of Imperial Pacific International’s cognac, Scotch, whiskey, gin, vodka, rum, and other spirits at an auction, according to a liquor inventory list it filed in the District Court for the NMI.

Clear Management, through attorney Michael White, filed the liquor inventory, among other documents, in compliance with the court’s order of Oct. 23, 2023, which requires the receiver to “perform a thorough inspection to locate all of IPI’s personal property…[and] create an inventory of all specific items in IPI’s possession that it believes are subject to the Writ [of execution] that it intends to sell.”

White also included a master list of asset classes.

“Each asset class for which an initial inventory has been completed has been assigned a number, and the enumeration of assets within each of those classes follows. Each of these enumerations is numbered in accordance with the master list,” White added.

He noted that there are some asset classes that have not been completely inventoried.

He said the receiver has completed the inventory for IPI’s liquor, and compiled a master list of artworks, computers, décor, employee lockers, employee lounge equipment, food & beverage supplies and equipment, tables and chairs, maintenance and equipment, office equipment and supplies, security equipment, sewing equipment, tools list, and uniforms.

The receiver listed a total of 6,458 liquor bottles to be sold at an auction.

On Oct. 31, 2023, Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona of District Court for the NMI granted the motion of former IPI employee Joshua Gray to provide Clear Management Ltd. with the key to IPI’s liquor vault.

IPI’s former director of operations, Gray successfully sued IPI for racial discrimination and wrongful termination.

Represented by attorneys Aaron Halegua and Bruce Berline, Gray was awarded by the federal court a total of $5.68 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

After the court allowed Gray to participate in the receivership proceedings, he applied for a writ of execution, which the court granted.

The writ applies to IPI’s vehicles, liquor, crystal dragons, computer hardware, furniture and equipment, including casino-related and security equipment as well as other non-exempt personal property that will be sold in an auction to satisfy judgment.
