Jiang Guo, 53, a citizen of the People’s Republic of China, was part of a tour group who was issued an authorization to enter the CNMI from July 4-7, 2009.
In Wednesday’s bail hearing, Associate Judge Perry B. Inos imposed a $5,000 cash bail on for his temporary liberty upon his promise to appear for all scheduled hearings.
Chief prosecutor Kevin Lynch represented the government while the defendant appeared without a lawyer.
If he posts bail, the defendant must return to court whenever required to do so, obey all Commonwealth laws, surrender his travel documents, not leave Saipan without court permission and stay away from all seaports and airports.
Inos also ordered the defendant to call in at the Immigration Office three times a week, provide a sketch of his residence and provide the Immigration Office names of contact numbers known to him.
The defendant must appear in court on July 30, 2009 to show cause why he should not be deported from the CNMI.
In his affidavit, Immigration investigator Nicolas T. Reyes said that based on information obtained from the Commonwealth Labor and Immigration Identification and Documentation System and the Border Management System, the defendant is an alien.
Reyes said the defendant was issued a tourist visa for Tinian Dynasty for a four-day stay in the CNMI. Reyes added when the tour group which the defendant was with departed the CNMI on July 7, 2009, he stayed behind. He also did not submit any new or renewal tourist extension application.
