Gov. Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang
GOVERNOR Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang on Thursday announced that approximately $17.6 million in tax refunds will be released in two weeks.
Finance Secretary Tracy B. Norita earlier said that the Division of Revenue & Taxation had already processed over 12,799 tax returns, amounting to approximately $17.6 million in potential tax refunds.
The breakdown is as follows:
Child Tax refunds – $4.4 million
Earned Income Tax Credit – $10.4 million
Regular Refunds/Rebates – $2.7 million
According to the governor, these refund estimates are likely to increase as Rev and Tax continues to receive and process tax returns.
He thanked and commended Finance “for their work in processing refunds quickly to distribute these refunds to our community.”
He also asked everyone to be patient as Finance works through the refund process.
For her part, Norita said the actual disbursement of refunds requires a tax return to be error-free, and as such, any errors on returns may cause delays in the issuance of a refund. She said Rev and Tax expects to disburse the first batch of refunds by May 15 and will continue to release refunds as they become available to disburse.
She added that taxpayers who opted for a check payment may expect additional processing time for mail delivery.
Taxpayers may check on the status of their refund online through the Taxpayer Assistance Portal at https://finance.gov.mp/taxpayer-assistance.php/.
Taxpayers can submit a status request ticket by providing: Social Security number, mailing address, filing tax year, and filing status (Single/MF-Joint/MF-Separated/Widow)
They may also contact the Rev and Tax Call Center at (670) 664-1040.
Norita thanked community members for their patience and cooperation as the Department of Finance continues to process refunds and other tax-related disbursements.
