Parent convicted of disturbing the peace of son, rearrested for trying to kill mother’s partner

Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert C. Naraja retained the $5,000 cash bail on Litulumar who is being held on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace.

The court directed Litulumar to stay away at least 200 yards from his mother and the victim.

Assistant Attorney General Eileen Wisor represented the government, while the court appointed Assistant Public Defender Benjamin Petersburg as Litulumar’s counsel.

The defendant was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after his initial appearance and bail hearing yesterday morning.

Detective Peter A. Aldan said the incident occurred on Oct. 11, 2011, between 1 and 3 a.m., at the residence of the defendant’s mother in Koblerville.

Prior to the incident, at about 12:30 a.m., the victim was sleeping in the bedroom while the defendant’s mother was sitting outside the garage.

Litulumar was walking toward his mother’s house with a machete in his hand, police said.

Litulumar asked his mother where the victim was, saying: “I’m going to cut off his neck,” police said.

The mother told Litulumar to wait outside as she went inside the house and told the victim that her son was outside with a machete, looking for him.

The victim was “so scared that he jumped out of the bedroom window and ran” to a nearby store where the victim called for police assistance.

The mother walked out of the garage and talked to Litulumar who replied that “he wanted to fight and cut somebody.”

The mother got scared so she escorted the defendant away from her residence and proceeded to the store where she met her partner, police said.

During the preliminary investigation, responding Officer Daniel Smith saw Litulumar passing by in a blue sedan. Officer Stanley Patris chased and arrested Litulumar.

Last July, Superior Court Judge David A. Wiseman sentenced Litulumar and his girlfriend Gina Bhagchandani, 37, to seven days imprisonment for disturbing the peace of their nine-year-old son.

The couple was each placed on one-year probation.

Police said Litulumar and Bhagchandani were drunk at the time.

Last June, the Superior Court separately sentenced Margarita Litulumar, 43, her son Faustino Litulumar, 22, and his girlfriend Gina Bahgchandani, 37, for disturbing the peace.

They were on a drinking spree in Koblerville that turned violent, police said.
