Parents in reading program discuss family values

The program resumed on Sunday with trainer Rhea Chong conducting the class from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

“This is to open the communication and build a close relationship and help their children not just in their academics but also in their emotional growth,” said Viola S. Deleon Guerrero, coordinator and parent trainer of the Motheread/Fatheread program.

Parents discussed the book “A Chair for My Mother” and shared various perspectives in connection to the story based on their own personal experiences.

“The training is open to all parents who want to be involved in the educational well-being of their children,” said Bryan Manabat, assistant coordinator and parent trainer.

The participants included Andrea Tabora, Virginia Bañacia, Rosemarie Capinpin, Romulo Lalucin, Merlinda Gaboya and Elena Peñalosa.

The first class introduced the participants to the course program.

They discussed the book “In My Family” during the second session which focused on family values.

Parents have to attend at least six of the eight sessions to complete the course.
