Perfect weather, huge crowd at Swan Lake and Ballet Concerts

Both shows attracted huge crowds, filling the seats at American Memorial Park Amphitheater on Friday and Saturday nights.

“We are very happy and thankful to all who came and enjoyed another spectacular performance,” Glushko’s instructor/choreographer Anna Glushko said.

She added that they couldn’t have asked for more with the perfect weather and full moon during the performances.

The Swan Lake & Ballet Concert opened with a fabulous rendition of the “Swan Lake” with Russian ballet dancer Natalia Kolosova playing the role of Odette/Odille.

Kolosova’s partner Daniil Kurynov played the role of the prince. Helen Ann Bucher played the role of the queen while Mike Guo Hao played Rothbart.

The 45 students from Glushko’s School of Performing Arts performed Butterflies, Ribbon’s Dance, Flower Girls, Polonez, Dance of the Little Swans, Black Swans, Napoletan Dance, Russian Dance and Hungrarian Dance.

In the second part of the show, international performers enthralled the audience starting with Kolosova and Kurynov’s performance of Adagio from the ballet “Legend of Love” and Coppelia.

Joo Won Ahn from the Universal Ballet Academy of South Korea performed Tchaikovsky’s Classical Pas-de-deux and his variation from the ballet Paquita, while Su Ji Ki from the same ballet academy performed her variation from the ballet Talisman, and Paquita.

Oden said that they are grateful for the wonderful community support and for the increasing appreciation for ballet and the arts from the community.

He said that the production cost was estimated to be about $40,000 but both he and Glushko said that these would not have been made possible without all the support and donations from the sponsors.
