Please secure your cows

COMMUNITY volunteer and Division of Parks and Recreation staffer Max Aguon is once again asking cow owners to secure their cattle as the animals could endanger motorists in Marpi.

He said unattended cows were blocking the road to Marpi tourist spots on Friday.

“The cows were on the road and could pose [a] danger to motorists in the area,” Aguon said. “The cows also leave manure on the road that leads to tourist sites in the area. The splatter from the manure sticks to cars passing by. I had to remove the manure on the road going to the Grotto and Bird Island,” he added.

“Please help maintain Marpi a tourist-friendly area,” Aguon reiterated.

In 2020, the Department of Public Lands issued a one-week grace period for ranchers and cattle owners to ensure that their livestock were in the permitted areas in Marpi.

DPL said cattle found on the loose would be seized and eradicated and the cattle owners’ DPL-issued grazing permit could be revoked.
