The principals said BOE’s reasons for Borja’s dismissal remain “unclear” and they want the board to “enlighten” them.
Dandan Elementary School principal Jonas Barcinas, in an interview yesterday, said they are “not in favor” of BOE’s decision and want the board to reconsider it.
A principal, who declined to be named, said Borja’s virtual firing has created a big impact on the education system and the community.
“We want to hear BOE’s reasons,” the principal said. “We want to see the transparency in governance which the board promised to practice.”
Another school administrator, who also spoke on the condition of anonymity, said: “Many of us are worried that this is the beginning of the board’s micromanaging PSS, which is not good for the system.”
“Many of us are confused,” another principal said.
Variety learned that the Association of Commonwealth Teachers will join the principals in their meeting with the board.
ACT president Betty Miller said the group is in the process of drafting a statement regarding Borja’s departure from PSS.
The meeting with BOE is open to the public and will begin at 9 a.m. in the BOE conference room at the Retirement Fund building on Capital Hill.
ACT encourages members of the public to attend the meeting.
