Because of the pandemic, she said, PSS “transitioned from paper-based enrollment to an online platform.”
“We need to make some changes that will ensure the safety of our families and our community,” she added.
About 10,000 students are expected to register for school year 2020-2021. “We are confident that our parents will take the time to re-enroll or register their child,” Villagomez said.
She encourages parents to visit the PSS website where they can find information about K-12 student enrollment and registration: https://www.cnmipssoare.org/district/online-registration?fbclid=IwAR1fsByWiOknCYuFsAdwivuV3mEAV3c0Pl_ETBu2dflAnB4Xi5qZv6NcM-M
“It provides parents all the information they need to be able to register new students or re-enroll their child who attended a public school in the last school year,” Villagomez said.
For families who do not have computer or internet access, Villagomez said they may make an appointment and visit their children’s school.
She said schools are providing support to families who need help in registering their children. “But parents and guardians need to make sure that they have the required documents,” she added.
The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.-Division of Public Health is currently conducting a school-based immunization outreach, Villagomez said.
Since July 28, CHCC-DPH Immunization Program staff members have been updating the children’s recommended vaccinations.
“The immunization outreach continues at schools,” Villagomez said, adding that the last day is on Sept. 3, 2020.
Villagomez said CHCC can deliver the children’s health certificates to schools.
“The parents need to fill out the authorization form that allows CHCC to provide the health certificate to us,” she said. “We want to prevent large crowds at CHCC or at the school.”
Immunization outreach schedule:
Aug. 25 – FMS Middle School
Aug. 26 – WSR Elementary School
Aug. 27 – Kagman High School
Sept. 1 – Kagman Elementary School
