BOE said not only will the move reduce the amount of papers and files at the HRO, it will also enable applicants who have not been hired the opportunity to update required documentation should they wish to re-apply at PSS.
“In an effort to reduce the amount of papers and files in the HRO, a reduction in the time required to retain documents is necessary,” BOE said in a public notice.
Currently, the HRO keeps all application files on an eligibility list. The files were kept indefinitely until this new rule was adopted.
“The eligibility list shall be maintained for 180 days. Names may be removed by the Human Resources Office only if the applicant voluntarily withdraws, is found to be not qualified, is disqualified due to false statements or fraud in the application, or if the applicant fails to respond within 10 calendar days to an offer for employment,” the notice further states.
