Public Health secretary still on indefinite medical leave

Gov. Benigno R. Fitial has appointed Deputy Secretary for Health Administration Pete Untalan as the acting public health secretary.

During yesterday’s regular press briefing, the governor and Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos said they have not been informed when Villagomez could come back to Saipan.

The two, however, refused to divulge the exact condition of the public health secretary.

In related news, Commerce Secretary Michael J. Ada is leaving Saipan today on official business.

Ada is also the head of the stimulus grant writing team of the Fitial administration.

David R. Maratita will be the acting commerce secretary from today until June 17.

Deputy Commerce Secretary Sixto K. Igisomar will take over from Maratita until Ada’s expected return to the island.

“Please extend your full cooperation to Mr. Maratita and Mr. Igisomar, as they assume these additional duties,” the governor said in his memorandum.

Separately, the governor designated Council on Developmental Disabilities Program Officer Raymond D. Diaz as the acting director of his office.

Council Director Pamela Sablan is also on official business in the U.S. from June 8 to 30.

“Effective this date, and until the return of Ms. Sablan, I designate Mr. Raymond D. Diaz, program officer, the acting director of the Council on Development Disabilities,” stated the governor’s memo.
