Chapter executive director John Hirsh told the Variety yesterday that “we are very humbled by the tremendous support we got from the community despite the recent shutdown and the reduced work hours.”
Hirsh said 1,280 individuals registered at the door during the event.
“This just goes to show that despite the economic crisis, the community knows that we are doing this fundraising to assist those who are in need,” Hirsh said.
He said the event, which was themed “Swinging 60s,” gave everybody a chance to divert their minds from the hardships the commonwealth is going through while supporting a valuable cause.
“Everything worked out good. Everybody had a good time, the food was excellent, the venue was superb and the program flowed as smooth as we wanted it to be. To sum it up, the Club 200 event was another success,” he said.
Hirsh did not disclose how much was raised as they were still rounding up receipts and waiting for other donations from the sponsors. He said they will come up with an exact figure at the end of the week.
The NMI Red Cross printed about 2,000 tickets sold at $100 each.
