Local chapter executive director John Hirsh said they are still accepting cash donations.
“We will accept all the assistance we can get to help those who are in need in emergencies like this,” Hirsh added.
He said all the donations they have received since the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit Japan on March 11 have been turned over to the Japanese Red Cross Society which is directly assisting the victims.
“We appreciate all the support that we get from the community, and we thank you for continuing to help,” Hirsh said.
He is looking forward to an all-out support from the community for the 25th annual walkathon on April 9.
The local Red Cross plans to donate $5,000 from the proceeds of the walkathon for the Japan relief efforts.
“We expect to see you all at the annual walkathon at the Civic Center on Saturday. A lot of prizes are at stake. Get the whole family to join,” Hirsh said.
