He will also be the keynote speaker at the party’s fundraiser scheduled for Sept. 8 for the gubernatorial team and senatorial candidates who will win in the GOP primary.
“The Republican slate for office this year is incredibly strong and I am confident that Chairman Steele’s visit will help the Republican Party secure the necessary resources we need to regain control of the governor’s office as well as a majority in the Guam Legislature,” Gov. Felix Camacho said in a statement.
Camacho said Steele’s mission is to reinvigorate the Republican Party as well as attract new voters.
Steele’s visit “demonstrates that the Guamanian voters in the continental U.S. are an important part of this mission,” the governor added.
Shawn Gumataotao, Camacho’s deputy chief of staff, said Steele has made a commitment to visit all the states and territories as Republican chairman.
“We’re excited about his visit at a time when we want to continue the leadership at Adelup and work toward a majority in the Guam Legislature,” said Gumataotao.
Steele is also scheduled to visit Saipan on Sept. 8 to endorse the candidacy of former Gov. Juan N. Babauta as CNMI congressional delegate.
