Vocational services director Jeff Boyer said they have already labeled all the dictionaries, and the next step is to coordinate the distribution with the other members.
Boyer said Delta Air Lines agreed to purchase the books as its contribution to the efforts of the Rotary Club for the community.
“We are very thankful for the support that we got from Delta Air Lines and from all our other supporters and Rotary Club members who joined us in this program,” Boyer said.
CTSI Logistics paid for the cost of shipping the books from the U.S. to the island.
“We hope to distribute all the dictionaries out this month to all the third graders on Saipan, Tinian and Rota, and eventually when funds allow, we will work toward including the private schools too,” Boyer said.
The program involves third graders because “this is the right time when the students need the dictionary in their studies — it can assist them to become active readers, creative thinkers and good writers,” Boyer said.
