“We are going to increase the number of P.O. boxes,” she told Variety.
Currently, they have 6,000 boxes but are planning to add 300 more boxes in the Chalan Kanoa post office lobby.
According to Marshall, some have been on the waiting list of P.O. box applicants for three years now.
Marshall, who has 17 years of experience in post office operation, is from Hereford, Arizona. She said there is a great demand for P.O. boxes on Saipan.
This is her first assignment outside of the mainland, she added.
Marshall assumed her new post on Sept. 17 although she officially was appointed on Aug. 26.
She is working with five employees and is looking for one more, but she said they have to hire from within the postal service.
Last week, Marshall met Saipan Mayor Donald G. Flores at his office.
The mayor is looking forward to assisting the post office, said his executive secretary Vinycia Seman.
Marshall said she is still familiarizing herself with the office operation on Saipan.
Right now, she added, they are already preparing for the holiday season.
