His wish will come true as he and his family will be leaving for Universal Studios on Sept. 1 so he can celebrate his birthday with Spongebob.
This will be made possible through the generous donations of TakeCare Insurance Company and FHP Clinic Saipan which handed $8,300 on Friday afternoon to the Make a Wish Foundation- Guam.
Representatives from TakeCare Insurance Company, FHP Clinic and Make A Wish Foundation-Guam turned over the check to Iguel’s parents, Manny and Jennifer, in the TSL Plaza Conference Room in Garapan.
TakeCare marketing manager Agnes Perez said Iguel is the first wish kid from Saipan where TakeCare has partnered with Make-A-Wish Foundation for this year.
Perez said each year, they help make the wishes of four children with life-threatening medical conditions come true — three from Guam and one from Saipan.
“When we received Iguel’s letter, we said we’ll do it. We checked the possibility of choosing him and his medical consultation schedules before finalizing everything,” Perez said.
She said they have to take into consideration several factors in choosing which wish to fulfill, like treatment schedules. She said Make A Wish forwarded Iguel’s letter to them last July.
“This partnership with Make A Wish is a big thing for us, and I would like to tell Iguel and his parents to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience, and have fun,” Perez said.
TakeCare Foundation of Guam has been working with Make a Wish in helping make the children’s wishes come for the past five years.
Iguel’s mother Jennifer said her son has to undergo MRI and treatment sessions at the Commonwealth Health Center once every month but this has been reduced to once every three months.
“We are really happy for this chance to give our little boy his birthday wish,” Jennifer Iguel said.
According to Manny Iguel, “No words can describe how happy we are with this birthday gift for our boy, and we are very thankful to the Make a Wish Foundation and to TakeCare Insurance for making things possible.
Kenjie is the middle child. His sisters are Jemalynn, 8, and Keralynn, 3.
