Raven Andevor of Koblerville Elementary School, Denise Alisson Bicera of San Antonio Elementary School, Jana Mendiola of Sinapalo Elementary School, Illysa Geronimo of San Vicente Elementary School and Vicky Kim of Marianas High School were the overall winners of the 3rd PSS STEM Fair.
All public elementary and high schools and two private schools — Mt. Carmel School and Marianas Baptist Academy — participated in this year’s fair.
“I congratulate all the winners of this year’s event,” KoES principal and awards ceremony emcee Rizalina Purugganan said. “PSS would like to thank all the participants for making this event a success.”
She said the five overall winners will enhance their winning projects “to make them better for the regional competition.”
“They are all good and intelligent students. I believe and I am confident that they will perform well in the regional competition,” she added.
MHS Vicky Kim, who topped the mathematics category in the 9th to 12th grade cluster, said she was surprised to be included on the list of overall winners.
“I speak English badly because I am Korean and I didn’t expect to win but I guess I owe everything to God,” she said.
She wants her victory to be an inspiration to all students.
“You just have to believe in yourself and do your best in everything you do,” she said.
Kim’s project, “Neck and Hip,” is about the relationship between the sizes of the neck and the hip.
She said her experiment is vital in the everyday lives of women who buy jeans.
Aside from the five overall winners, 65 other students were awarded certificates and presented medals for their excellent projects.
