The Fitial administration thanked the senators for their positive endorsement of Inos.
“I thank the Senate for confirming a qualified local attorney wishing to join our judicial branch and serve the interests of justice,” Gov. Benigno R. Fitial said in a prepared statement.
He added: “I have every confidence in the professionalism and integrity of Mr. Inos. This confirmation encourages our young people to secure a professional education and return to serve our community.”
The Senate held a session on Rota yesterday and confirmed all political nominees, including Inos.
Inos will serve for six years and will succeed retired Judge Juan T. Lizama who is currently one of the nine candidates for the CNMI congressional delegate election.
Inos is a graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law.
He used to be a teacher and worked as an assistant attorney general for the Criminal Division of the Office of the Attorney General and was associate attorney at the Law Office of John A. Manglona who is now an associate justice of the CNMI Supreme Court.
He is the son of Rota Mayor Joseph S. Inos, a party mate of the governor.
On Tuesday, Sen. Luis Crisostimo, D-Saipan, asked the Senate to expedite Inos’s confirmation.
He told Sen. Paterno S. Hocog, R-Rota and chairman of the Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Governmental Investigations, that he would be gone for a couple of weeks but was eager to participate in the confirmation process.
“I am also interested in participating at this confirmation hearing and would like to be accorded an opportunity to speak,” he wrote to Hocog.
