Senator: Lack of project managers delays CIPs

He said project managers are responsible for the coordination and management of the federally funded CIPs and are critical for the completion of these projects.

According to Manglona, R-Rota, funds for these positions are federally funded and filling them should not be delayed by the CNMI government.

On March 31, Manglona asked the administration’s CIP coordinator Vicky Villagomez regarding the hiring of project managers for the three main islands.

Manglona, in his letter to Villagomez, said “critical projects have been stalled or significantly slowed down” due to the lack of  project managers.

Yesterday, the senator sent a follow-up letter to the CIP coordinator. “These positions were originally advertised almost one year ago,” he said. “Another request for qualification statements was issued and closed earlier this year on April 30.”

He asked Villagomez to update him on the status of the positions.
