Some public schools fail to obligate federal funds

Commisioner Rita A. Sablan reminded the schools that they were supposed obligate the funds by September 30, 2010.

“We made this money available to you since February 2009. It is already November 2010. The funding must be obligated by September 2010. If you won’t spend this money,  it is going to be taken away from you,” Sablan told  school administrators.

Some of the public schools that have untouched funds:

•    Marianas High School – $181,797

•    Kagman High School – $136,211

•    Rota High School – $5,976

•    Saipan Southern High School – $137,194

•    Tinian Jr. Sr. High – $21,703

•    Rita Hocog Inos Jr. High – $25,776

•    Hopwood Jr. High School – $205,858

•    Chacha Oceanview Jr. High School – $45,809

Total:  $760,324
