“Many years ago, we used to have a Mardi Gras event at one of the local restaurants,” Soroptimist-NMI Chapter president Donna Krum said in an interview. “A lot of people [who] are here tonight used to go to that event.”
The celebration on Tuesday started at 5:30 p.m. and was held at the Godfather’s Beach House Bar at Fiesta Resort & Spa.
Brandon Smith and Jenn Aldan were declared the Mardi Gras king and queen.
Krum said Fiesta Resort & Spa provided free chasers while Godfather donated a portion of the night’s total drink sales to the Soroptimist-NMI Chapter.
The event sponsors were Heineken, Cruzan, D&Q International, Pacific Islands Club, Fiesta Resort & Spa, Aqua Resort Club, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Plumeria Events, Natural Nail Salon, Marianas Variety, 360 Restaurant, and Godfather’s Beach House Bar.
