In his letter to lawmakers, Cruz expressed concerned about the inclusion of Paupau Beach Park in the proposed land lease.
He said this “is an injustice to our community and especially to our people utilizing the area on a daily basis.”
The government, he added, should show some respect for the members of the public who have worked hard for many years to develop and protect the beach park.
“It’s unfortunate that our government continues with this attitude of taking away beach front properties from the general public,” Cruz said.
The land lease proposal, he added will only favor a few individuals.
He said Taotao Tano will continue to monitor the issue to ensure that residents are not “chased out of their own beach.”
