The traditional canoe races will include a two-person paddling race, a two-person sailing race, a three-person sailing race, and a five-person voyaging race.
Other races include eight-person 500-meter, 1,500-meter, and long distance international canoe paddling races, and a one-person “totang” race.
The committee has encouraged all the municipal and community levels of the government to form their teams and register them prior to the closing of registration.
Private groups, including businesses, were also encouraged to for teams and register for the three-day competitions. The canoes will be provided by the festival organizers.
Anyone can join and no experience is necessary. Free sailing and paddling lessons will also be provided to interested teams upon request. For more information, call 691-350-2298 or e-mail [email protected].
