The contract of Teregeyo’s predecessor, Henry S. Hofschneider, was not renewed on Aug. 15.
“The government is promoting gender equality. We expect she will do more than what her office requires,” DLNR Secretary Ignacio T. Dela Cruz said, adding that Teregeyo’s appointment papers are now being processed.
“There’s a lot of catching up to do and I believe she will deliver,” Dela Cruz said, adding that DLNR is “a big department with many divisions.”
A former Saipan Cable TV news reporter, Teregeyo is not new to DLNR.
Prior to her appointment, Teregeyo worked with the department’s Division of Fish and Wildlife as conservation coordinator and head of enforcement for two years.
Teregeyo also served as DNLR’s special assistant for correspondence for six years.
Teregeyo holds a bachelor of science degree from Oregon State University where she majored in natural resources management, minoring in fisheries conservation.
She is currently working on her master’s degree in natural resources.
