Garapan Elementary School and Bank of Guam will participate in both the walk and MMAC 2010.
“Our team’s drive is the community’s effort for the fight for cancer. MMAC is an organization that helps people in need and being able to give back is the best reward,” said Paulette Sablan, Garapan Elementary School co-captain for MMAC.
Garapan Elementary School has participated in the Marianas March Against Cancer since 2003 and has teamed up with Bank of Guam, one of the MMAC title sponsors, since 2004.
Families, friends and cancer survivors are encouraged to participate in the Thanks For Giving Walk.
All funds raised in the MMAC remain in the CNMI to fight the battle against cancer, locally.
These funds are also used to assist patients up to $500 per year in purchasing consumable supplies such as, depends diapers, ostomy bags, ostomy wafers, ensure milk product, glucerna milk product, bed pads, inflatable tubes, etc.
The Commonwealth Cancer Association also loans out to patients hospital equipments such as, wheel chairs, hospital beds, oxygen concentrators, bed-side comode, shower chair, etc.
