Thief gets 2 years

The victim said her purse contained $704 cash and checks amounting to $5,250.

Superior Court Judge David A. Wiseman yesterday imposed a two-year imprisonment on Ngiraibuuch who was ordered to report to the Department of Corrections on Jan. 11, 2012 to complete his jail sentence.

Ngiraibuuch will pay a $500 fine that will be reduced to $250 if he pays within one year of release from prison.

He will pay a $25 court assessment fee and restitution to the government in an amount to be determined by the court.

As part of the plea agreement, the prosecution “agreed to forbear revocation of pending traffic matters.”

Based on surveillance video that day, Ngiraibuuch entered the establishment, and asked a staffer if he could use the company phone to call a family member who would meet him there and play golf.

After the purported call, Ngiraibuuch started looking at the golf equipment and walked around the room.

The victim then came out of her booth and sat on a couch.

Ngiraibuuch asked if he could make another phone call which the staffer allowed. Ngiraibuuch then entered the booth.

After several minutes, the victim checked her make-up inside her purse and discovered that her wallet was already missing.

When the surveillance video was reviewed, Ngiraibuuch was seen touching the victim’s bag, and taking her wallet before hurriedly exiting the establishment.
