
On Wednesday evening, eight nationally recognized student groups from the Commonwealth presented a series of groundbreaking presentations during the Public School STEM Showcase at the American Memorial Park theater. Among them was Tinian High School’s Stephanie Diaz, who participated in the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (Pacific Region) in Washington, D.C. Diaz, who joined the showcase remotely, spoke about her presentation. She was honored by Board of Education Chair Aschumar Kodep Ogumoro-Uludong, Commissioner of Education Dr. Lawrence F. Camacho, PSS Federal Programs Officer Jacqueline P. Che, BOE Student Representative and Youth Congress Speaker Vinnie Juan Q. Sablan, Science Program Director Asapmar Ogumro (who received Diaz’s recognition on her behalf), Instructional Technology and Distance Education Director Dr. Lorraine Catienza, Statewide Longitudinal Data System Director Dr. Annette Pladevega Sablan, MHS Vice Principal Romolo A. Orsini, ITDE’s Dr. Ria Nathrani and Family Engagement and Community Involvement Coordinator Liela C. Yumul. Also attending the presentation were House Speaker Edmund Villagomez, Sen. Ronnie Calvo, Public Works Secretary Ray N. Yumul, and Youth Sen. Aydeun Sean C. Yumul. Diaz’s achievement was celebrated alongside those of her peers for their contributions to excellence in STEM.
