Tudela may run for lt. governor

“My family has yet to decide,” Tudela said, noting that he always consults his family about his political undertakings.

Tudela, who will complete his second and last term of office in Jan. 2010, admitted that his supporters have asked him run for  lt. governor.

“My supporters are urging me to run for a higher position,” he said.

If ever he runs again, Tudela said he is not sure whether he will join the Covenant Party slate.

Tudela was elected in 2001 as a Democrat but sought re-election on the Covenant Party ticket in 2005.

Tudela said some of the  prospective mayoral candidates have already approached him to ask for his endorsement.

But, he added, “I have yet to decide whom to endorse.”

Tudela was former Democratic Gov. Carlos S. Camacho’s running mate in the 1985 gubernatorial election.

They lost to the Republican ticket of Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio and Lt. Gov. Pete A. Tenorio.
