Valentine’s, Chinese New Year brunch and dinner at Palms create waves

The 150-capacity Minami Restaurant welcomed guests and diners to the spacious, Valentine- and Chinese New Year-theme decorated dining hall to celebrate the two special events with their loved ones, friends or family members.

Palms Resort food and beverage manager Cristina Lustre said for the two occasions, Minami Restaurant served a mix of international dishes to suit the tastes of all diners. Guests flocked to the buffet station and got their fill of fish, chicken, beef, pork, and lamb prepared in a delicious variety of dishes.

A giant moonfish placed in the center of the sashimi and seafood station was hit with locals and tourists. Diners couldn’t just get their fill of the island’s freshest fish, lobster, clams, oysters, shrimp and crabs.

Heart-shaped cakes and pastries dominated the dessert station for brunch. Guests gave in to the temptations of chocolate mousse cakes, apple strudel, caramel custard, choconuts cake, baklava tart, fruit carvings, and more.

One highlight of the Valentine’s Day brunch was the crepe station where diners could choose pancakes or waffles, and fruit for filling such as thinly sliced bananas, cantaloupes, pineapples, strawberry bits, and marmalades. The fruits were heated on a pan with butter until the flavors blended.

Palms Resort executive sous chef Habib Akbar and executive chef David Jones were at hand to personally see to it that the diners were enjoying their meals and lacked nothing.

“The Sunday Brunch for Valentines and dinner to welcome the Chinese New Year were very successful, and we had more people coming in who did not make any reservations,” Akbar said.

Palms Resort Saipan continues to serve international cuisine through its theme nights every week. For reservations, call 322-3311.
