Wiseman orders man in ice trafficking to post $30K bail

Qingxian Xu appeared before Associate Judge David A. Wiseman during the bail hearing yesterday.

The defendant was arrested after police caught him selling ice to a cooperating source in As Lito on Feb. 19.

In his affidavit, Detective Norman A.S. Rasiang said members of the Department of Public Safety’s Narcotics Unit and the Criminal Investigation Division conducted a buy-bust operation which resulted in the arrest of the defendant after a cooperating source purchased $840 worth of ice from him.

Rasiang said the source contacted the defendant’s cellular phone to negotiate an order of two grams of ice.

The cooperating source was given $200 of pre-recorded funds and the money was arranged to make it appear that it amounted to $840.

The arresting team saw the defendant entering the vehicle of the cooperating source where the exchange took place.

The team arrested the defendant when the source gave the signal that the transaction pushed through and he had already purchased the ice from the defendant.

Rasiang said they recovered the pre-recorded funds from the defendant’s wallet.

They also recovered two Ziploc baggies containing white crystalline substance — ice —wrapped in aluminum foil inside a white napkin from the vehicle of the source.

Rasiang requested bail to be set at $30,000 for the two counts of trafficking of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance.
