Woman arrested for assault, other charges

THE Department of Public Safety has arrested Melinda Villanueva, 49, on the charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault, disturbing the peace, and vandalism.

Superior Court Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio issued an arrest warrant for Villanueva in the afternoon of June 11.

According to Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop, the charges stem from an incident reported to DPS at 10:27 p.m. on May 26, 2025.

“Officers were dispatched to the Jin Li store in Dandan village, where they learned that Villanueva had earlier entered the store holding a metal iron bar, which she used to strike and damage items that were on top of a counter. She shouted, harassed, disturbed, and assaulted store employees, including young family members of the store owner,” Manacop said.

He added, “It was also noted that Villanueva nearly struck a victim with her vehicle before fleeing the scene. Villanueva was arrested, without incident, by Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday.”

Villanueva is being held at the Department of Corrections on $25,000 bail. She was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
