Woman fires gun over flowers

Superior Court Associate Judge David Wiseman set Ramona Magofna’s bail at $5,000 cash for carrying a firearm while under the influence of alcohol and for disturbing the peace of her neighbors.

According to Detective Christopher Deleon Guerrero, police received three successive 911 calls from residents of Kagman III village along Indian Weed Court who heard several gunshots fired.

The first caller said he heard six shots were fired. The second caller said she heard two and two more shots were fired while she was talking on the phone.

The Department of Public Safety immediately dispatched a team to the area.

Officer Kwon Nam Hoon said one of the residents directed them to a house where he recovered several empty boxes and one live round of .223 ammunition.

During the questioning, police officers found out that Magofna was drunk and admitted that she was the one who fired the shots.

“Ramona told the officer that she fired the shots because she was tired of her neighbors coming around messing up her flowers,” Deleon Guerrero said in his sworn affidavit submitted to the court.

Magofna apparently had several drinks with her friends at her mother’s residence in Koblerville before going home to her house in Kagman.

When they arrived, one of her companions noticed that she was upset about her flowers.

“Ramona was curious about her flowers and took out her rifle from her car and fired it,” the detective said.

The neighbors said they feared for their safety.

“[A resident] stated that all the neighbors around her residence came out as shots were fired [around 2:15 a.m. of May 15]. When more shots were fired they started running back into their houses. A house with seven children was just next door to where the shots were fired,” Deleon Guerrero said.

“[The resident] expressed fear for her safety and her neighbors because while she was living on Guam she had a [similar] experience and someone was struck with a bullet. [She] stated that she was shaking at the time and was scared because they or anyone could get hurt or killed by the bullets fired,” he added.
