Woman in fake bill scam gets 3-year probation

Kisha Lyn Masga King appeared for the sentencing yesterday with her counsel, Loren Sutton. Assistant U.S. Attorney James Benedetto appeared on behalf of the federal government.

Munson told King that she must not commit another federal, state or local crime, not use or possess a controlled substance and submit to one drug test within 15 days.

She must undergo at least two periodic drug tests hereafter, and refrain from excessive alcohol.

She must submit to the collection of a DNA sample at the direction of the U.S. Probation Office, comply with the conditions of the court, and not possess firearms or other dangerous weapons.

King, moreover, must participate in a substance abuse treatment program and must complete 100 hours of community service under the direction of the U.S. Probation Office.

She will pay an assessment fee of $400, and restitution in the amount of $150.

King and her two co-defendants — brothers Lucas Taitano Manglona and Nestor Camacho Taitano — were arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation agents after an indictment was filed against them in federal court on Feb. 26, 2009.

King was indicted for one count of conspiracy to utter counterfeit obligations and securities, and three counts of counterfeiting.

The indictment stated that King and the two other defendants used counterfeit bills on Jan. 12, 2009, to defraud four establishments on Saipan.

The indictment said that Taitano gave King a fake $50 bill to buy $10 worth of gasoline at the Koblerville Shell gas station, another fake $50 bill to pay for clothing or other items at  Tapo Fashion, and another fake $50 to buy items at Fashion Avenue.

King then returned the change from the fake bills to Taitano.

King entered into a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to utter counterfeit obligations and securities, and three counts of uttering counterfeit obligations and securities.
