Linda Pedro, 45, is being held on charges of assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
She is due to appear for her initial appearance and bail hearing in Superior Court yesterday afternoon.
Judge Kenneth L. Govendo imposed a $1,000 bail on her.
Detective Steven A. Castro told the court that police received a disturbance in progress in Dandan on July 2, at about 1:45 a.m.
Responding officer Rhonda John learned that Linda shouted at her son and told him to put his things into the house.
The son told his mother that he had done it already and then went out because his mother was screaming, police said.
He said his mother slapped him and pulled his hair.
The mother was arrested minutes later, and was brought to the Department of Corrections for booking.
Police did not disclose the age of the son.
