In an email to Variety, Majesty said its “Full Belly, Full Hearts” aims to provide more hot meals to “the most vulnerable in the community,” including workers affected by the economic downturn and global pandemic.
On Monday, free meals were distributed from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Majesty Chinese Restaurant.
Since the Labor Day weekend, the restaurant has distributed hot meals every Sunday morning, providing a total of more than 1,100 hot meals and grocery bags to unemployed and low-income recipients, said Jackie Che, project lead of the “Full Belly, Full Hearts” campaign.
“In the true spirit of Dr. King, the MLK Day of Service is an opportunity to remember his life and re-commit ourselves by volunteering to serve, uplift, and support our neighbors in need,” Che added.
To celebrate the Lunar New Year next month, Dr. Kan Hou-Sek Kim, president of Win Win Way Construction, has committed to sponsor 300 free meals that will be distributed on Feb. 7 starting at 4 p.m. at Majesty Chinese Restaurant. No registration is required.
