Man accused of assaulting woman allegedly told her, ‘I am the police’

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A man who was accused of assaulting a woman at a Dededo bar allegedly showed her a badge and said, “I am the police!”

About 1:35 a.m. Sunday, a woman reported to officers with the Guam Police Department that Christopher Owi assaulted her earlier that night at a Dededo bar, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed in the Superior Court of Guam.

The woman explained Owi drank three buckets of beer, which the woman said made Owi “highly intoxicated.”

“During that time, the defendant struck the victim’s left hip with a closed fist,” according to the complaint, adding that the woman afterward guided him down the stairs and told him to leave.

In response, the man allegedly told the woman, “I will kill you.”

“The defendant then showed the victim a badge and stated, ‘I am the police.'” according to the complaint.

Owi was charged with assault as a misdemeanor and harassment as a petty misdemeanor.

After being charged, Owi was confined at the Department of Corrections, but later released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.
