CHRISTIAN Harys Santos Manuel, also known as Christy, is accused of sexually abusing an 8-year-old boy.
Manuel was charged with sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree, and disturbing the peace.
Sexual abuse of a minor is punishable by up to 30 years imprisonment and a $50,000 fine.
Manuel appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho for a bail hearing on Friday.
Judge Camacho imposed a $100,000 bail on the defendant and remanded him to the custody of the Department of Corrections.
Manuel was ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on May 13 at 10 a.m., and for an arraignment on May 16 at 9 a.m.
Assistant Public Defender Jean Pierre Nogues represented the defendant while Chief Prosecutor Chester Hinds appeared for the government.
According to the criminal complaint against Manuel, the minor victim’s legal guardian had instructed her son to install a parental app on the minor’s tablet.
She said she became the guardian of the boy on Aug. 25, 2021 after the boy’s mother was incarcerated.
The guardian told investigators that her son later discovered porno videos downloaded on the minor’s tablet.
The guardian then asked the minor about the videos and how they ended up on the tablet.
The minor told the guardian that “Christy” downloaded the videos on the tablet and would make him watch them.
The minor also told the guardian what Manuel made the boy do to the defendant “on many occasions.”
The boy said Manuel told him not to tell anyone as he, the defendant, would buy the child a brand-new Nintendo game console.
