Man charged for assaulting a cop, DUI

Hesus Ngiraitpang is also facing reckless driving, failing to obey a police officer and obstructing justice.

The affidavit of probable cause submitted to court stated that Ngiraitpang on June 18 was driving a 1996 green station wagon on the main highway while under the influence of alcohol.The affidavit stated that Ngiraitpang drove his vehicle in a zigzag motion at a very slow rate of speed on the main highway from Medalaii towards Topside.The defendant parked his vehicle sideways, blocking two parking spaces in the Best Mart parking lot.When Police Officer Bradley Rimirch arrived at the scene, Ngiraitpang attempted to drive away, so Sgt. Rimirch turned off defendant’s ignition to prevent him from driving away.The affidavit stated that the police officer noticed some open beer cans in the front of the vehicle and could smell a strong odor of alcohol on defendant’s breath and body.The affidavit stated that defendant tried to start the car but could not do it because the police officer was holding the key in the ignition.The defendant bit the officer’s arm and refused to exit the car.The police officer then called the radio to ask for police assistance.Police responded and handcuffed the defendant.
